"A common vision of a well-integrated educational system extending from birth through postsecondary education is essential." (SHEEO, 2003)

About this Site

Postsecondary leadership is critical to ensuring that high school graduates are prepared for postsecondary success. Whether high school graduates are entering public or private institutions, pursuing associate’s or bachelor’s degrees, or entering training programs that will prepare them for the workforce, all are expected to have common knowledge and skills that indicate readiness for postsecondary success.The Postsecondary Connection online resource is designed to provide critical tools, data and strategies that higher education leaders need to help prepare students to enter and succeed in credit-bearing college coursework and rigorous postsecondary training programs. This website provides examples, case studies and best practices on how to:

  • Help develop college- and career-ready standards;
  • Work with K-12 leaders to align expectations for high school graduates who are entering higher education; and
  • Support and create policy efforts in states that help smooth students’ transition from high school to and through higher education.

Postsecondary Connection is a one-stop resource for faculty and administrators, state higher education officials and P-20 council representatives from all sectors of higher education with the resources they need to engage effectively in K-16 education reform on the local and state levels.Postsecondary Connection was created and is maintained by Achieve, with generous support from Lumina Foundation for Education.
